Your banking details deserve more than an email.

Veiled Wire was built for one job: getting your wire instructions to your customer safely, without giving criminals a way in. Here's how it's different, in plain English.

The problem

Criminals don't break into banks. They break into inboxes.

Most wire fraud starts with an email. A criminal gets into someone's inbox, or makes an email look like it came from you. Then they send your customer "updated" bank details that lead to the criminal's account. The FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) calls this business email compromise, or BEC, and it costs businesses billions of dollars every year.

Emailed wire instructions, PDFs (Portable Document Format files) and attachments can sit in inboxes for years. Anyone who gets into that inbox can read them, copy them, or change them.

Built for one job

One job: protecting your banking details.

Veiled Wire does one thing, and does it well. It protects the banking details you send to your customers, such as wire instructions and ACH (Automated Clearing House) payment details.

Many cybersecurity options come as large, all-in-one packages. You pay for software, monitoring and services you may never use, often on a long contract, before your banking details are protected at all.

Veiled Wire is different. It's one simple monthly plan, built and priced for small businesses, so any business can protect itself and its customers from day one. There's nothing to install and no IT (information technology) team required.

The all-in-one package

Lots to pay for before your banking details are covered.

Veiled Wire

Protects what matters most.

Your login is protected

Our job starts from the time you create an account and log in.

Every Veiled Wire account uses MFA (multi-factor authentication). Logging in takes two things: your password, and a 6-digit code from an app on your phone. The code changes every 30 seconds.

So even if a criminal steals or guesses your password, they still can't log in as you and send fake wire instructions to your customers. They would need your phone too.

Lose your phone? At setup you get a short list of backup codes. Each works once, so you can sign in and set up your new phone.

Five systems, not one

No single place holds everything.

Many services keep everything in one system: your login, your customers, and your banking details. If a criminal gets into that one system, they get it all.

Veiled Wire works differently. Five separate systems, each run by a different specialist company, work together. Each one does a single job, and none of them holds the whole picture. To steal your banking details, a criminal would have to break into several of them at once.

Encrypted every step of the way,

from the moment you click Veil until your customer unveils it.

We don't keep your banking details.

Once your customer views them, or the link expires, the scrambled copy is erased.

How your wire instructions travel

Secure web server

Connects every step. Everything that travels between you, your customer and these systems is encrypted along the way, the same protection behind the padlock in your browser's address bar.

  1. 1

    Veil the key vault

When you click "Veil and send," a dedicated key vault scrambles (encrypts) your banking details. The key that unscrambles them never leaves the vault.

  2. 2

    Store the database

Our database keeps only the scrambled copy. On its own, it's unreadable gibberish.

  3. 3

    Send the email service

An email service sends your customer a secure link. The email never contains bank details.

  4. 4

    Verify the phone verification service

A phone verification service texts or calls your customer with a one-time code. It goes to the phone number you have on file for them, not one a criminal could swap in by email.

  5. 5

    Unveil the key vault

Only after the code checks out does the key vault unscramble the details, and only once.

Your customer is protected

Only the right person sees your details, and only once.

They prove who they are.

Before anything is shown, your customer enters a one-time code sent to their phone. Someone who has only the email link gets nowhere.

The link works once.

After your customer views the details, the link closes for good. A forwarded or stolen link shows nothing.

The link expires.

If it isn't opened within 72 hours, it stops working.

They get a reminder to call you.

Next to the details, your customer sees a clear warning to confirm them by calling you at a number they already know, before sending any money.

More safeguards

Small details that stop big mistakes.

Typo catcher.

US routing numbers have a built-in check. Veiled Wire flags a mistyped number before anything is sent, and checks that international SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) codes are in the right format.

Bot blocker.

A security check on our sign-up form stops automated programs from creating fake accounts.

A record of every step.

Veiled Wire logs when each instruction is veiled, when a code is sent, every right or wrong code entered, and when it's opened. The log holds no banking details.

Nothing sensitive in your inbox.

Our emails only ever carry links, never account or routing numbers.

A card on file to start.

New accounts add a payment method before sending anything, which keeps fraudsters from signing up for free.

Your part

Technology helps. Habits close the gap.

No system can stop every scam on its own. Three habits keep you and your customers safe:

  1. 1Never share your password, phone codes or backup codes with anyone, including coworkers.
  2. 2Never change wire instructions because an email asks you to. Call first, at a number you already know.
  3. 3Ask your customers to call you before they send money, every time.

Send your next wire instructions the safe way.
